My EXACT POST-Contest Detox Protocol

Alright boys and girls, this is some very personal and private information im about to share with you. I am doing this so that more people can learn to take proper care of their bodies and not assume that by they know how to fix their bodies without the help of a trained professional. Yes, detoxifying your body on a daily basis is very important, but if youre looking to get optimal performance out of your machine youve got to make sure youre giving it what it needs! Check it out…..

I briefly mentioned last week that I had an allergy test done, I had begun a full body cleanse and had done some blood work and urinalysis to see how my body chemistry is functioning. Well the results are in, everything is very close to optimal and only a few minor changes need to be made to the offseason nutrition plan. It seems most people that follow my blogs are interested in the details of what I do, and why. Here is the exact additions I am making to my nutrition and supplement plan: (above and beyond my current regiment of taking 15gr of Aminocore between all meals and 2 Isoflex shakes per day). *Please be advised, these nutritional additions are VERY specific to MY body chemistry. DO NOT assume that you have the same needs or requirements. This analysis was done my trained medical professionals and nutritionists.

Ben’s Detox Protocol

Tyrosine 2-3g upon waking and early afternoon

Phenylalanine 500mg 2x/day

“These are the amino acids that fuel the adrenals and also tyrosine is a processor to CoQ10 production. While there is a lot of research that shows how important coQ10 is for metabolism and heart/vascular health beyond antioxidant function supplemental coQ10 has not been shown in research to increase tissue levels. By increasing tyrosine, we supply the body with the parts to create it’s own coQ10 and raise tissue values, not just circulation.”

Arginine 3g AM and Pre workout

Scitec glutamine 40-80g/day

Mag Citrate 2x/day

biotin 8 mg in evening, if you are taking yang in the am otherwise 8mg TID

Taurine 2g at night

“All of these are cofactors that help drive the CAC citric acid cycle, which is the cycle you use to convert carbohydrates into energy. You results showed you were hitting road blocks in that cycle where these cofactors were needed, so increasing them will increase your ability to turn carbs into fuel.”

Vit C 2g pwo ( each workout)

Glycine (2-10g based on bowel tolerance) + NAC 1-5g based on bowel tolerance

start with lower dosage, and then increase ONE of the two each time. Glycine is one of the main building blocks of glutathione and also is part of detoxification process for most petrochemicals and byproducts of bad gut flora. Combining with NAC will up regulate detoxification pathways in the liver.

Methylator

– 5-methyltetrahydrafolate is the active version of B9 or folic acid. This is used for energy production, liver detox and estrogen detoxification. About 50% of people are poor at converting folic acid to this active form so taking the active form ensures proper detoxification pathways

Biociden protocol + probiotic L. acidophilus-

This is a natural antibiotic and antifungal/yeast that helps remove and detoxify pathogenic gut flora. Sometimes taking a probiotic is enough or isn’t fast enough at changing the gut, so this is a safer and gentler way to get rid of bad gut flora than using prescription antibiotics and antifungals that kill off many good bacteria as well. Take the Biociden on an empty stomach twice in the early day and take your probiotic after your last meal of the day.

Surprisingly enough, the things I lack most are amino acids. You would think that with all the meat I eat and all the amino supplements I take, that this might not be the case. Its all about balance and getting a wide array of protein sources I guess.

I have been implementing these changes for 5 days now and I notice a tremendous difference in my energy and pumps in the gym. I actually also feel like im getting leaner. For all those people out there that ask me if im taking milk thistle for my cleanse…NOPE! Im taking aminos! 😉

  1. Excellent article Ben. You make us proud up here in Canada. The world of bodybuilding needs embassitors like you. Keep up the great work and looking forward to watching the Mr. Olympia 2012 ( first time I have been interested in over a decade) Coach Charles Poliquin and Allmax have a true jem here.

  2. Whitney,Sorry about all of the problems and poor support. The star of all of this is your gluten intolerance. This is not simply a gut flora issue and cannot be treated the same way as other food intolerances. Start by staying away from grains. They certainly aren’t needed in a healthy diet.I think that all of your son’s problems are reversible.Your son’s problem is absence of gut bacteria. Probiotics are a stopgap, a quick fix, but not a permanent solution. How is your son being exposed to the thousands of other species of bacteria that could help him construct a functional gut flora? His immune system development is dependent on species of bacteria that are not present. You need to follow the suggestions on my blog to fix your own gut flora, so that you can pass on healthy gut flora to your son. It also sounds like you have too much hygiene in your household. Does your son play in the grass and have dirty pets? Those are good sources of needed gut bacteria. You haven’t mentioned the major parts of your son’s diet that should be meat/fish/eggs/dairy, veggies and bacteria. The diet sounds very deficient in saturated fats and omega 3 oils. I expect that your son has a vitD deficiency. Has he been tested for serum vitD?You and your son have a ways to go to be healthy, but this is a start. Let me know how you do and I can help with the next steps.

This design is incredible! You certainly know how to keep a reader entertained. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Great job. I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!

  6. Some strains of L. acidophilus have been studied extensively for health effects. Some L. acidophilus strains may be able to survive gastrointenstinal transit, being resistant to bile, low pH, and digestive enzymes. They may then be able to adhere to human epithelial cell lines and human intestinal mucus.”^^`
